For those of you that follow our Facebook and Instagram page, will know we've been rather busy of late.
Not just on interior design and styling projects, but also prepping for our very first Royal Cornwall Show.
To say we are just a little bit excited is an understatement.
It will be our first show of this kind, on this scale, ever... gulp!
Yes, we are a tad anxious knowing that over 120,000 visitors are expected over the 3 day event, but anticipation in this sort of situation is a good thing.
For those of you that have never heard of the Royal Cornwall Show, I thought I would share an overview of the event.
It's a bit of an institution here in Cornwall and THE event to attend in the county.
The Royal Cornwall Show is synonymous mainly as an agricultural gathering, and of course, that is exactly what it is.
The first show staged back in September 1793 in Truro, focused predominantly on livestock and was an arena for competitors to show-off their prize cattle, sheep and pigs.
Over recent years however the event has evolved and diversified to cover lots of different areas and now has quite a large trade following. Artisan trades especially. Indeed, it can be rather tricky to get hold of a trade stand at 'the Royal', as it is affectionately known by locals.
It's such a prestigious local event, stands are not generally offered on a first come, first served basis as one might expect. As an alternative, previous years traders are offered, as a priority, the opportunity to re-exhibit.
Having never attended the show before, I was a little concerned that we might struggle to get a pitch with this method of engaging exhibits, so you can only imagine my surprise (and excitement) when we found out that we, The Cornish House, had been accepted into the fold.
Well, it might have been a bit odd not to have been, being called 'The Cornish House' after all.
Having only recently found out that we had been offered a place, it's been all hands-to-the-pump to get our pitch allocated, our marquee sorted, signs printed and our interior offerings ready.
You may well ask what would an interior design business bring to the table at such an event.
Well, for those of you that follow our blog; will know that we do a little bit more than just interior design. Of course, we'd love you to come by and discuss any projects you might be considering in the near future...
But as the newly appointed Cornwall and Devon associate partner for the UK's largest property styling company - HouseWow, we also spend a lot of our time helping home owners dress, style and stage their homes for sale.
When we are not busy with those projects, we focus our time and efforts sourcing beautiful furniture, upholstery and interior items to renovate (if required), and sell in our online shop.
One of the great things about property home staging is the varied array of beautiful, often bespoke items we purchase, collect and sometimes have left over from a project, and it's some of these you will get an opportunity to see and even buy on our stand at the show in June. But you have to be quick, many of our pieces are one-offs.
We will be bringing our beautiful solid oak armoire....
A selection of drawers...
Some of our beautiful ironstone collection...
And of course, a few of our French chairs...
The odd reproduction mora clock for good measure...
And some beautiful soft furnishings by British designers...
So, if you happen to be in Cornwall or indeed Wadebridge on the 8th, 9th or 10th of June 2017, feel free to come by and look as up on stand 113, opposite the Wedding Marquee.
